Oooooooo.....Elizabeth LaShaun , stuck her foot in on this one. An excellent book that kept me guessing and wondering almost to the end, and then it had me saying " what da what???". Mighty was a drug-kingpin and a all around not nice guy who ended up in a coma. His wife left broke and destitute has to make the choice of trying to make it the honest way or to try and take over his business. Kelcee was once the owener of a employment agency and lost it when her husband and all his assets were frozen by the feds struggles to make ends meet , especially after her residence is taken leaving her and the children homeless. Kelcee must make some hard choices in order to survive, but thank goodness for good friends and relatives who are determined to help her though. I am only giving you a tease of the book, Im afraid if I say more that I will give it all away. It is a great book!!
I was CAUGHT UP from the first to the last chapter!!! Ms. LaShaun was on a ROLL with this plot and the characters real, gritty, flawed, hopeful/hopeless, loving...I could go on and on.
--Every description of sight, sound and even smell put me front and center of all the action.
--The poignancy of hearing Mighty's thoughts in the midst of his coma riveting.
--Kelcee and 'SunRay' are my kind of heroines. Vunerable yet smart; hopeful but watchful. Played the hands they were dealt. You may not agree with or like their decisions but you have to respect their commitment.
--Kelcee's conversation/confrontation with her son Kenneth Wow! I was scared out of my mind.
--And LANCE!!??!! Alpha male withOUT all the macho posturing. (got nothing but love for ya)

Kelcee Liberman Has finally made the decision to leave her husband Maurice aka Mighty.Her good spirits come to a halt once she finds out that he has been in a terrible accident which resulted in a coma.Her day goes from bad to worst when she finds out she has lost everything. Kelcee finds her back against and the wall and must make the hardest choice of her life but she is determined to come out on top.
I enjoyed this book from beginning to the end. It had everything I needed to call this book a 5 star. I LOVED all the male characters and hoping that they will appear it again one day. I'm also happy that this book takes place in my hometown. I knew all the places mention. Great Job can't wait to read more of you work
This is actually my second book by Elizabeth Lashaun and I must say I'm glad I did buy this book. From the beginning I was on the edge of my sit hanging onto every single word, comma and period thats how good this book was. Kelcee was so strong and I'm so happy to read about a female that fought for what she wanted she dodnt let anything get her down she got out and hustled to make sure her babies got the thing's they needed and wanted. Ranae' oh how I love her supportive best friend intelligent and a hustler get it girl and then she with that fine brother Craig my my my, lol (licking my lips). I cant stand Tammy you set all of that up in that house and chy you was working my nerves and out stayed your welcome long before Javon wanted you out of his life. 5 stars 5 stars thank you Elizabeth for this I will definitely be buying more books from you.
LOVED this story! From beginning to end not once did I want to throw my tablet lol. It's amazing how survival mode can kick in and what you will do to protect and take care of you and yours. That's the position Kelcee found herself in, one minute she's thinking she's about to live her life like it's Golden, the next, she's thrown for a huge loop starting from square one basically. Thankfully she had a great friend, and a shoulder to lean on because things only got deeper.
I appreciate Elizabeth Lashaun not making the focus the drug trade, you knew it was there but it focused on the strength, ability, fight or flight, and ride and die spirit of the characters more. There was no constant name dropping, upholding or lifting of the institution, and thankfully NO DUMB WEAK MATERIALISTIC somebody take care of me female types! THANK GOODNESS! Kelcee and Renae were smart book and street wise, ambitious had and could get their own on either side of the coin, Kelcee had to do what she had to do to get her life back, and Renae her best friend was just that riding with her. Their men were thorough REAL men who rode with them, most times from the background making sure things went smoothly while they took care of their women mentally and physically not just financially. They had no problem taking control and having their women sit back, out of love and for their safety, not ego. This was an all around great read, very well written, hit some emotional hot spots we all have. I can definitely relate to wanting to do for myself and not asking anyone for anything. Great Job EL!

This was my first read by this author. At first glance I kinda thought it was a christian fiction. Since I read Christian Fiction too, I figured why not. I saw her book being advertised in a book club on facebook and figured I would give it a try. Boy, was I surprised. The author took you on a ride for your money. She showed what happens when a woman is forced to take her life in her own hands after being forced in the shadows of her husband and emotionally abused. Kelcie comes out swinging and getting everybody out of her way. Along with her friend Ranee, Lance and her cousin Craig they take the people around them by storm and show them that even though Kelcie's husband Mighty is in a coma and no longer a threat the force they should be concerned about comes wearing stilettos and Haute Couture. I really enjoyed this smooth easy read. Kudos to Ms. Elizabeth Lashaun.
